Issues

” I love Delaware, the people of Delaware and Its potential to be even more beautiful than it is already”

  • We must finally tackle the issue of systemic racism. Where there are inequities in services, programs, policies and even laws we must work to make those right. Healthcare, education, jobs, housing, food security, voting, every aspect of life must be equitable for all people with a clear path to access.
  • I will work first to raise the minimum wage. Families cannot afford to wait any longer. COVID-19 has only worsened the capacity of working families ability to pay mortgage/rent, buy food, pay healthcare premiums, get prescriptions, and pay the cost to place children in quality daycare, pre-k and before/after programs. It just cannot all get done on the current minimum wage.
  • I will work to ensure that every child in Delaware has access to free preschool and to reform our school funding system. We must be concerned about reading on grade level and social-emotional development, which would be engaged by universal pre-k. We must also reduce the inequities in education that are brought on by a funding system that is structured based on where individuals live. The inequities are inevitable..
  • I will work to improve services for homeless veterans, particularly transition housing for female veterans with children, and also for veterans suffering from PTSD or other illnesses. We must ensure that the programs not only exist, but that veterans have clear access.
  • We must choose gun sense laws. Our public safety depends upon background checks, banning high capacity magazines, safe storage, having laws against using 3D printers to fabricate weapons and not allowing domestic abusers to be licensed gun owners. I will support and fight for legislation to keep Delawareans safe.
  • COVID-19 has demonstrated in the public school, university, hospital, small business, retail and so many other systems that we need to expand our technology infrastructure if we are to continue learning, working and living strong.
